Clinical management of Clostridium difficile infection poses a particular problem, despite the widespread use of recommended antibacterials such as vancomycin and metronidazole. Promising treatment options include the use of other antibacterials (e.g. fidaxomicin and rifaximin) or strategies (e.g. probiotics, monoclonal antibodies and faecal transplantation).
